TCU ATHLETICS HALL OF FAME
Shawn Worthen, a three-year all-conference selection as a Horned Frog, became one of the nation's top defensive linemen prior to moving on to a four-year NFL career. He served as a stout, run-stopping defensive tackle for a 2000 TCU defensive line that saw three of four starters go on to play professionally. A native of San Antonio, Worthen started 35 games while helping TCU begin its current run of 12 bowl appearances in the past 13 years. He was named a third-team All-American as a senior in 2000, when the Frogs led the nation in both total defense and scoring defense. He recorded 53 tackles that season, including 13 behind the line of scrimmage, and concluded his TCU career with 132 total stops and 32 for loss. Following his TCU career, Worthen was taken in the fourth round of the 2001 NFL Draft by Minnesota. He played four pro seasons with the Vikings and Houston Texans before returning to TCU, where he has since served in our Academic Services department from 2005.
