TCU ATHLETICS HALL OF FAME
Matt Purke is TCU's all-time leader in single-season wins, totaling 16 victories in 2010. His 142 strikeouts that season ranks second-most in school history, as well. He would go on to earn All-Mountain West Conference First Team honors, in addition to being named the MWC Freshman of the Year. A 2010 All-American, Purke would be named the National Freshman of the Year that season. Despite being drafted in the first round – 14th overall – in the MLB Draft in 2009, Purke opted to attend TCU instead. He would later be drafted in the third round by the Washington Nationals in 2011. Purke made his major league debut on May 20, 2016, with the Chicago White Sox.
